Camp Activities

Horseback Riding – Children will be taught proper riding form, handling skills and control as well as the essentials of feeding, grooming, tying knots and saddling.

Fishing – Fishing will be taught by experienced staff members. Children will learn basic fishing techniques as well as how to clean their catch.

Bow Hunting – Under the supervision of trained staff members, children will be taught bow hunting safety measures and skills.

Skeet Shooting – Gun safety will be taught to all children who wish to participate in skeet shooting. Basic shotgun skills, as well as cleaning techniques, will be taught as well.

Go Karting – Children will be transported to a nearby world class go karting facility at the Monticello Karting & Motor Club. Karting blends the speed of wheel-to-wheel racing and safe high-speed excitement.

Hiking – Honey Lake Plantation encompasses some 4,700 acres, and as such there is a multitude of hiking trails for campers to traverse. There are a total of 28 miles of trails available for their enjoyment.

Yoga – In yoga class, your children will be exposed to basic yoga poses while increasing their flexibility, strength, and posture.

Arts and Crafts – At Camp Honey Lake we offer a multitude of Arts and Crafts activities that incorporate craftsmanship and the great outdoors in a variety of ways. Your child will come home with a unique project that could only be completed at Camp Honey Lake.

Wildlife Observation – Honey Lake Plantation is home to many wild animals, ranging from quail and other native birds, to coyotes and deer. In this activity, children will learn how to safely observe many of the animals present on the plantation while basking in the educational experience of a lifetime.

Outdoor Sports – A variety of team sports will be offered to children at Camp Honey Lake. A camper's daily experience will rotate between such outdoor sports activities as soccer, kickball, volleyball, etc.

Field Games – Campers will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of supervised games, including horseshoes, corn-hole, croquet, and capture the flag.

Kayaking Skills – Kayaking skills will be taught under the supervision of certified lifeguard.

Kayaking Trip – A longer, multi-mile Kayaking trip will be an available option for older campers.

Archery – Under the supervision of trained staff members, children will be taught bow safety measures and skills. The week will culminate in a friendly archery tournament.

Swimming – Under the supervision of a certified lifeguard, campers will be introduced to basic swimming techniques and lifesaving skills.

Outdoor Cooking – Campers will learn basic outdoor cooking skills in a fun and safe environment.

Many More… Additional activities are based on specialized skills and expertise of our counselors, giving us the opportunity to offer a variety of activities that may vary slightly from summer to summer.
